Laura Townshend

I’m a writer, voiceover artist, and lover of the arts. Audio description allows me to combine my skills in writing and voiceover, to help others experience the joy of the arts too. So it’s the perfect combination!

I have a BA in Drama and an MA in Applied Theatre. My MA dissertation focused on creating theatre and entertainment for blind and visually impaired people. I’m passionate about inclusivity and in the past I co-ran a sensory theatre company, Sensus, which toured around special schools. I was also one of the first people to audio describe the brochures at the Orange Tree Theatre.

I’ve been working as a copywriter for 15 years, and I’m a drama school trained professional actress.

I have my own voiceover booth at home, so I can record remotely.

As a digital audio describer, I work mostly writing and voicing films, which is an area I really love. I’d also like to do more audiobook or brochure work, as well as TV, Film, Gaming, and Museums/Exhibitions.
