Owen Williams
Nationwide, Yorkshire
I’m a freelance writer living in the Yorkshire Dales with an academic and a cat. I used to mostly work for Empire Magazine and now I mostly work for Channel 4, which is where I became aware of and interested in Audio Description after a busman's holiday to RedBee. I'm certified in AD by VocalEyes and Royal Holloway University of London and I'm currently part of the AD team for Bradford City of Culture 2025 covering theatre, events and exhibitions. I'm very much on the lookout for other AD opportunities, particularly in television and film.
As a writer I’m also still a regular contributor to Rue Morgue and my work has been published by Fangoria, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Birth.Movies.Death and widely elsewhere. And there’ve been a few books. I’m known where I’m mostly known for writing about film but I’ve occasionally dipped into video games (for Games™ and Wireframe) and history (for All About History). The majority of my work is for print media but I set up flexiblehead.blog to share links to some of my online articles and preserve some interviews. Sometimes I even update it. There are scans of some of my magazine greatest hits in the portfolio section.
